Running in memory of Dad
In August, I will be running the Barossa Marathon, in honour of my Dad who we recently lost to pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is known as one of the ‘silent killer’ cancers, of which patients frequently experience no symptoms until it’s too late. Sadly, this results in pancreatic cancer having one of the lowest survival rates.
Dad showed no sign of illness until it was far too late, and was given a terminal diagnosis, which cruelly took him from us in a mere 7 weeks.
To honour him, I’ll be running the marathon to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and early screening & testing. The money raised for Pankind Foundation will help them achieve their mission to triple the survival rates of pancreatic cancer patients by 2030, which hopefully means that other families don’t have to experience this kind of heartbreaking loss.
Knowing Dad will be upstairs cheering me on is what is going to get me over the finish line, but I would also be very accepting of any words of encouragement that you might have, to keep me pushing!
